Badger State Skiing Games
JANUARY 2006
Registration for three skiing events will be held by the Badger State Winter Games. Registration for the Freestyle, Alpine and Nordic Skiing is now open. The Badger State Winter Games is the nation's largest winter sports festival in Wisconsin with different communities playing host to the state events. USSA rules will apply, although USSA membership is not required.
FREESTYLE SKIING (February 4)
The Freestyle Skiing category will be held at Cascade Mountain in Portage. The move inverted aerial is not allowed. Definitions will be Citizens for those with limited experience and Masters for those who have previously competed.
ALPINE SKIING (February 4 - 5)
The Alpine Skiing Category will be held at Rib Mountain State Park in Granite Peak. Format for this category is the Slalom and Giant Slalom. Categories for the competition will be Citizens, Masters and Open. Citizens category is for skiers with limited or no racing experience. Masters Category is for skiers who have already participated in organized race programs in the past. Lastly, the Open Category are for skiers 18 years old and above who just wants to compete in the competition.
NORDIC SKIING (February 4 - 5)
The Nordic Skiing category will be held at the 9 Mile Forest Ski Trails in Wausau. Format for the event is Freestyle and Classical racing. It will be a single loop race with moderate terrain for every level. Categories for the event are: Snowman where athletes will race for both 40k classical race and 43k classical race; Waves category is open to everyone with participants divided according to age, novice or open class; Classical race is for in-the-track skiing; Freestyle race allows skating and classical techniques; Open category are for those aged 19 and above and is also the highest level of competition among the categories. Lastly, there is the Novice category for those aged 18 and above who wants a less extreme competition.
