Big White Opens Express, Powder Chair and Alpine T-Bar

Big White Ski Resort has been getting “snowed under” for the past week! With the alpine base rapidly approaching 150 centimeters (59 inches) and temperatures hovering at a mid-winter cold, it’s time to open up more of “the goods” to season pass holders and visiting resort guests.

On Saturday, December 11th, Big White opened three more lifts, the Westridge/Gem Lake Express quad, the Powder triple chair, and the Alpine T-bar. This opening gives access to the vast majority of Big White’s black and double black diamond designated trails, as well as significant acreage in the alpine bowls and glades.

“There are new grooming machines arriving daily, we’re throwing everything we’ve got at preparing these runs for opening, “commented Michael J. Ballingall, the resort’s Senior Vice President. “Mother Nature seems to be on our side this year, after all our snow comes from the heavens, it doesn’t come from earth. Silver Star recently opened the Powder Gulch/Putnam Creek “Valley of Adventure” - conditions were excellent, as thousands of powder hounds enjoyed heli-type skiing for the price of a single day ticket,” continued Ballingall.

This bountiful early-season snowfall also puts Big White Ski Resort right on target for the grand opening of TELUS Park on December 18. TELUS Park features a super-pipe, half-pipe, a terrain park, and rail garden with slope-style features, a skier/boardercross course, and family race center.
