Fernie Alpine Resort's Legendary Summer
Fernie Alpine Resort, a year-round destination mountain playground, began
its summer lift operation on July 1st which runs through to September
6th. The Elk Quad is available to hikers, mountain bikers, and those just
seeking a relaxing ride to new heights.
Fernie Alpine Resort’s summer season is filled with exciting events
for the entire family. The summer began with the Fernie Alpine Resort
Open Tennis Tournament on June 26th & 27th. Fernie’s educational
and always-popular Geology Walk’n Talk will be held on August 7th.
Fernie will once again be welcoming riders from across the nation, at
the Canada Cup Mountain Bike Series, August 14th & 15th. Mountain
Mania Kids Adventure Weekend is back, August 21st to 22nd and promises
activities and games for kids of all ages.
The Timber Express Chair will also be open briefly this summer to provide
biking and hiking. The dates are August 7th & 8th, 12th through 15th.
Be sure to book your hiking trip with our on-site guide or perhaps take
a picnic lunch to the viewing deck and feast on the scenery.
“Fernie is the mecca for adventure and truly one of few places
that you can go for the best lift accessed adventure ride in the Canadian
Rockies. You can take your bike ride in the morning, participate in a
course from a geologist mid day and fish the world class waters of the
Elk River to end the day,” says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director
of Business Development for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. “Life
is great in Fernie!” added Mosteller.
Fernie Alpine Resort’s Summer Sports School provides programs for
all ages and abilities. Little Adventurers (ages 3 to 6) and Kids Adventure
Camps (ages 6 to 12) are offered daily on a half or full-day basis. Discover
Mountain Biking provides first-timers with a lift pass, bike rental and
instruction. Fernie’s tennis instructors are on hand to help perfect
that stroke, or relax and just enjoy the views on a horseback trail ride.
For the more adventurous, whitewater rafting can be arranged, or sit back
and enjoy coffee on the deck of the Mountain Adventure Centre.
