Jackson Hole Freeskiing Open
MARCH 2006
Make sure to be at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming for the resort's first big-mountain competition in 10 years - the Subaru Jackson Hole Freeskiing Open. Mountain Sports International (MSI) is proud to announce this inaugural freeskiing open that will bring together over 100 of the world's premier winter athletes that will battle it out for $7,500 and a chance to compete at the overall Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Series Title.
The competition will take place at the resort's Casper Bowl, just before the final days of the resort's famous Tram. This is the third stop of the Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Series which has $45,000 total worth of prizes. This is the final chance for participants to boost their standings before proceeding to the U.S. and World Tour Finals the following week.
Registration for the competition will take place on March 21, followed by the Semi-Finals on March 22. Around one-third of the field will qualify for the finals and super-finals on March 23, with awards ceremonies and an after-party at Eleanor’s, featuring world-class DJ Knuckles, to conclude the weekend.
The four-stop 2006 Subaru U.S. Freeskiing series kicked off with the Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Nationals at Snowbird, UT, continued on to the Subaru Telluride Freeskiing Open in Telluride, CO, and will conclude at the Subaru North American Freeskiing Championships in Kirkwood, CA.
Along with U.S. Freeskiing Series title sponsor Subaru of America and host mountain Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, strong support from tour partners Amstel Light, The North Face, Powder Magazine, Sportsinsurance.com, Nordica, and Smith Optics have allowed for a huge overall prize purse as well as expanded coverage of the competition. New for 2006, MSI is excited to present online, video-on-demand footage of all events, which will be uploaded weekly.
