Lake Louise attracting World Media Crews

It was a mad rush to the airport. Grabbing any seats available, the crew from Matchstick Productions, the world’s most respected freeski filmmakers next to Warren Miller, dropped their current projects and headed to Lake Louise Mountain Resort. Matchstick production founder Steve Winter heard buzz of terrain park builders from Breckenridge, Big Bear and Lake Louise building this year’s most mind-blowing terrain at Lake Louise Mountain Resort and the crew couldn’t wait to get up close and personal.

Snowboarder Magazine’s Superpark 9 wrapped up on April 27 at Lake Louise after a week of reconstructing the resort’s terrain park for snowboard athletes from as far away as Japan and New Zealand. Then, instead of deconstructing the park, the crew at Lake Louise said good-bye to Superpark 9 snowboarders and hello to the skiers and film crew of Matchstick Productions.

Lake Louise will be featured once again in Matchstick’s 2005-06 film, yet to be named. The film will be shown to audiences throughout North America next year before being released onto DVD, when skiers and riders can once again welcome Lake Louise into their homes by sitting back and pressing “play.”

“Having world-class terrain park builders and professional snowboarders at Lake Louise one week, then famous film crews the next, is an added bonus for Lake Louise Mountain Resort and Banff National Park,” says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director of Business Development for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. “Around the globe, people dream about skiing and riding Lake Louise thanks to not only the epic terrain and breath-taking scenery, but also the skiers, riders, photographers and filmmakers who help share stories and images from here with the rest of the world.”
