Mont-Sainte-Anne Ski Season ended on Positive Note

After 161 days of skiing and snowboarding, one of the longest seasons in all of Eastern Canada, Mont-Sainte-Anne is now getting ready for spring. The 2004/2005 season ended Sunday, May 1st on a positive note with a total snowfall amount of 511 centimeters (201 inches), over 100 centimeters (39 inches) more than the annual average recorded at Mont-Sainte-Anne in the last 10 years. Thanks to the acquisition of a new snowmaking system this winter that allowed an exceptional snow quality all throughout the season, Mont-Sainte-Anne has registered a significant increase of its destination visitors of more than 10 percent. Mont-Sainte-Anne Cross-Country Center, which offers the largest trails network in Canada, also registered over 10 percent increase of its clientele.

The Canadian Alpine Championships, combined with other great-scale competitions held at Mont-Sainte-Anne this season both on the mountain and at the Cross-Country Center, testify of the exceptional quality of the snowmaking and grooming of the resort network. The return of the “24 Hours of Le Mont,” of the famous Volkswagen Spring Madness and the KDX Tour extreme events series, on top of a diversified and filled calendar of events, continue to put the resort of Beaupre on the map as a destination of choice.

Summer activities are abundant at Mont-Sainte-Anne. The Grand Vallon Golf Course opened on May 6th. Mont-Sainte-Anne Campground welcomed its first visitors of the season on May 14th while the mountain biking trail and hiking network and the panoramic gondola will start their summer operations on May 28th. The 2005 Velirium, an International Festival and Mountain Biking World Cup, will take place from June 11th to 26th.
