Skiing by the Hour at Norquay in Banff and Lake Louise

Ski Banff at Norquay offers the unique option of purchasing your daily lift ticket in blocks of time versus the norm of having to buy a full day before noon or a half day after 12:30 pm. The concept is not entirely new to skiing, but it is only available at Norquay in the Banff and Lake Louise area.

The resort introduced the concept with a midweek Flex-time ticket that was a two hour ticket as a test during the 1995-96 season. It was well received by local skiers and riders pressed for time to ski and ride, so the resort expanded the time blocks two seasons later to include three, four, and five hours. The new ticket option continued to gain popularity with the many visitors to the resort and was further expanded to include half hour increments to be even more flexible and convenient.

“The benefits are numerous,” says Rob Coté, Director of Marketing at Norquay. “It is ideal for families whose young children can’t last more than a few hours at a time. It is also ideal for anyone wanting to ski or ride for just a morning or anything less than a full day. The Skiing by the Hour ticket puts the consumer in control of their day instead of the resort dictating when and how long they have to be out on the hill to get the most value out of their purchase. Now, the only reason to be at the mountain for first lift is to get first tracks after a fresh snowfall or to enjoy Norquay’s impeccable corduroy groomed runs and there is no longer a penalty for getting a late start or for wanting to finish early.”

Skiing by the Hour tickets are available for adults ages 18+, youths ages 13-17, seniors ages 65+, children ages 6-12 and children five and under ski for free. With Norquay’s close proximity to Banff and Canmore, its non existent lift lines and compact trail design, skiers and riders can easily put in a 10,000 to 20,000 vertical foot day in under four hours. Skiing and riding no longer has to be a full day activity to be a good value with Skiing by the Hour lift tickets.
